pedal folk preparing for ‘in pursuit of spring’ tour

Tim and Chance rehearsing sm

I have just come back from a lovely weekend in Bath rehearsing with Tim Graham and Chance Kellner for the next Pedal Folk tour in April.

We are going to be retracing the London to Somerset route taken by the brilliant wordsmith Edward Thomas in his 1913 cycling trip which he documented in one of his last books ‘In Pursuit Of Spring‘.

Gigs will be in Hackney, Farnham, Winchester, Salisbury, Trowbridge, Glastonbury, and Crowcombe. You can see the map below and the full gig listing here – http://pedalfolk.co.uk/gigs/

album launch at ‘green note’ in camden on 5th february

green note

***STOP PRESS*** as of 3rd February, this event is now sold out.

To mark the completion of my fourth album ‘More Than Today‘, I have gathered the musicians I worked with recording the album together for a special one-off show at Green Note in Camden next month.

I have asked Effra and The Heartlands to join me for the evening, both are excellent bands who I am looking forward to sharing a stage with muchly.

The venue is quite small so please buy tickets in advance – it would make me super sad to have anyone turned away on the night.

some photos from raf club in ilford

We did a lovely little gig for Steve at Redbridge Green Fair Music Club in Ilford last Friday.

The venue literally looked like it was the set of a horror flick from the outside but was utterly charming inside as were the audience…

december gigs in essex, oxford and crouch end

So I should probably be starting to hibernate by now but the year has thrown up a little flurry of winter gigs in Essex, Oxford and Crouch End. I will be performing with Chance and Candy on violin and backing vocals respectively..

The Essex show on Friday 6th December is for a much loved promoter who books me for gigs in libraries, gardens, town centres and …this time …the local RAF Club… awesome. More info <here>.

Then Saturday 14th December at a beautiful old pavilion surrounded by green in Oxford – info <here> ***please note this show has been postponed to 2014***

…and finally on Sunday 15th December this lovely weekly event in Crouch End – info <here>

before the gold rush, october gig in crouch end

bg-header59

I’ve just confirm a show at a cosy spot in Crouch End called The Haberdashery for the lovely London promoters ‘Before The Gold Rush‘ on Wednesday 2nd October.

It will be the first London sit down gig type thing with a wonderful Canadian violinist called ‘Chance’ I met busking a few weeks ago – we have been out and about doing a few festivals so should be nicely rehearsed by October. Candy is joining us so there may possibly be some three part harmonies… #excited
