Pedal Folk harvest tour – Stroud, Bristol, Bath, Salisbury, Winchester, Steep – September

I am back in the saddle with Pedal Folk next month for a weeks harvest tour taking us from Stroud to Petersfield via Bristol, Bath, Salisbury and Winchester. We have two brilliant new musicians joining us for the tour… Naomi Wilkins on flute and Clarissa Carlyon on cello.

Gig with ‘3 Cane Whale’ for Edward Thomas Symposium

3 Cane Whale are without doubt one of my favourite bands in the world so I am thrilled that I am going to be sharing a stage with them next month.

We are putting on this one off event in the Lupton Hall at Bedales School to celebrate the life and works of Edward Thomas during his annual symposium.

Saturday 15th November 8pm (doors 7:30pm)

Edward Thomas is one of our country’s literary heroes, whose work deals with themes that still have huge resonance today such as the encroachment of industry and large scale mechanised agriculture into the natural world and the search for traditional values and national heritage during uncertain times.

Many contemporary poets and musicians cite Thomas as an influence and the members of Pedal Folk and Three Cane Whale have been brought together from Bath, Bristol and London in their admiration of his work.

Their music draws inspiration not only directly from his words but also the themes of an English culture that he searched for and reflected upon through his love of poetry, of folk song and the joy that he took in traveling the land. Guaranteed to be a brilliant evening of music that will delight and engage fans of Thomas’ work as well as those who haven’t experienced his words.

pedal folk preparing for ‘in pursuit of spring’ tour

I have just come back from a lovely weekend in Bath rehearsing with Tim Graham and Chance Kellner for the next Pedal Folk tour in April.

We are going to be retracing the London to Somerset route taken by the brilliant wordsmith Edward Thomas in his 1913 cycling trip which he documented in one of his last books ‘In Pursuit Of Spring‘.

Gigs will be in Hackney, Farnham, Winchester, Salisbury, Trowbridge, Glastonbury, and Crowcombe. You can see the map below and the full gig listing here – http://pedalfolk.co.uk/gigs/

folk weekend oxford

So Pedal Folk, the cycling music tour I am doing late April is now all sorted and we will be ending our two wheeled jaunt by performing at Folk Weekend Oxford which I am super excited about.

I will be playing with Tim Graham and Katie Stone Lonergan on Sunday 21st April at Cafe 1071 at 3pm. There may be bubbly to celebrate the end of the tour.
