I made a little playlist of some of my instrumental tracks for a film making friend to graze recently. Thought I’d pop it here just in case anyone else fancies a listen.
Sashes and Sabotage – a new song for Emily Davison and the Woman’s suffrage movement
I’ve had a fabulous few days working on a song about Emily Davison and the role of property destruction in the fight for women’s suffrage. Continue reading “Sashes and Sabotage – a new song for Emily Davison and the Woman’s suffrage movement”
The Suitor’s Ballyhoo – a new recording of an old song
My new Sheffield studio is starting to bear its first fruit with this autumnal recording of ‘The Suitor’s Ballyhoo’. I play the song a lot slower than I used to and captured this in a couple of free days between shows with the trees obediently dropping their leaves outside my window. Let’s Lock Ourselves Here For A While
I had the pleasure of singing for Frack Free Lancashire and Reclaim The Power on Friday as part of a Three Acres And A Cow show. During the show, I had an excuse to teach people a song I wrote for Newham Woodcraft Folk group last year called ‘Let’s Lock Ourselves Here For A While‘. Some new music – Woodman, Spare That Tree
The more observant of you will have noticed a slow down in my creative output since things took off with Three Acres And A Cow.
I’m looking forward to redressing the balance this year and here is the first fruits of that; a recording of ‘Woodman, Spare That Tree’ which will be on my forthcoming album ‘From The Ground Up’.
A little Walthstow concert to start 2017
I am going to ease myself musically into the new year with a gig in Walthamstow on Thursday 19th January at The Hornbeam, my local community centre. A place brimming with excellent people, tasty seasonal locally grown food, ale, cake and art.
The plan is to do an early set for young families and then a second one later for everyone else. I think Basia and Caitlin are free which means violin and accordion. If anyone could nudge Candy to see if she can come and sing, I’d be grateful!
5.30-6.30pm kids’ kitchen family food time
6.30-7.30pm music family friendly set
8.30-9.30pm music 2nd set for grown ups!
